Neil Diamond is having a good week as he has found his muse, and she happens to be his manager, Katie Mc Neil. Katie McNeil or Kathryn McNeil was born in 1971, United States. She is an American TV executive producer and music manager. Katie lives in Los Angeles, California.
Neil Diamond has some big news. The 70-year-old “Sweet Caroline” singer popped the question to his manager and girlfriend, Katie McNeil earlier this week. The singer took to Twitter to spread the news and posted a photo of McNeil taken last month in London. “I’d like you to meet Katie”, he wrote. “I’m love struck”.
“Good news coming from sunny LA/ and you’re the first I want to tell/ Katie & I just got engaged/ and I hope you wish us well”, he wrote in a rhyme couplet on Wednesday, like a song lyric.
Soon Neil Diamond will have something in common with Ozzy Osbourne.
This will be the third marriage for recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee. Diamond’s first marriage, in 1963, was to school sweetheart, Jayne Posner, for six years. They had two girls and divorced in 1969. In the same year he wed Marcia Murphey, a production assistant. They also had two children together, but after 26 years of marriage, Diamond had to pay $150million (£94million) when they split in 1995. The singer was also named one of this year’s Kennedy Center Honorees this week and will be inducted alongside Meryl Streep and cellist Yo-Yo Ma. No word yet on a wedding date.
Aside from management duties, McNeil executive produced the 2009 documentary about the singer Neil Diamond: Hot August Night NYC. Her other, mostly music-centric credits include Motley Crue: Carnival of Sins, Heart: Alive in Seattle, Public Enemy Live from the House of Blues and Tonight at the House of Blues.
Diamond, whose hits include “Sweet Caroline,” “America,” “Song Sung Blue” in addition to a starring role in 1980′s The Jazz Singer, is among this year’s recipients of Kennedy Center Honors. He will be honored alongside Meryl Streep, singer Barbara Cook, jazz musician Sonny Rollins, and cellist Yo-Yo Ma at the Dec. event.
