August 27th is the anniversary of Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Levin’s wedding.
Hollywood’s troubled actor, Robert Downey Jr. tied the knot with producer Susan Levin. Downey credits Susan with helping him get his life back on track.
On August 27, 2005 at the Windy Dunes estate in Amagansett, New York, the 5.2-acre compound is said to be lavish. Their rehearsal dinner was hosted by Susan’s parents at the East Hampton Point Restaurant.
Wedding guests included Keanu Reeves, Sting, Ellen Barkin, and Billy Joel. Guests looked on from white benches as the vows took place under a four-post gazebo covered with white orchids, willow and birch branches. To calm his nerves, Downey reportedly had a 30-minute kung fu session before the wedding ceremony.

Susan wore a white silk Vera Wang gown, fashioned with a plunging V-neck and a short train, conjured up visions of 1930′s screen goddess Jean Harlow. A diaphanous veil with a serged edge added an ethereal touch to the wedding gown. To harmonize with the groom, Susan carried a bouquet composed of white and purple flowers.
While Robert Downey Jr. wore a Ralph Lauren pin stripe suit paired with purple tie, scarf and two-tone Vans sneakers.

Following the vows, guests entered a tent transformed into a botanical paradise. More than 4,000 orchids were arranged by Sofia Crokos Events. Dinner was served family-style and included platters of miso-glazed Chilean sea bass and rice paper-wrapped pesto salmon.

Dessert was a three-tier marble cake with chocolate chip cream and white fondant by Ron Ben-Israel. The couple toasted with nonalcoholic ginger spritzers. Later in the evening, Sting performed.
The next day, the newlyweds enjoyed a post-wedding brunch of salmon crepes at Jean Luc East Restaurant. Soon after, they left the Hamptons for their honeymoon in England.

Downey, 40, and Levin, 31, met in 2002 on the set of Gothika, the psychological thriller he made with Halle Barry, which Levin coproduced.
The couple was engaged in November 2003 when Downey presented Levin with an engagement ring made of diamonds and a rare African sapphire.

Downey – who has starred in more than 50 films including Less Than Zero, Chaplin and Wonder Boys – has a reputation as a talented but troubled actor. In June 1996 he was pulled over for speeding, and police found heroin, crack and an unloaded gun in his car. He spent the next six years in and out of prison and rehab.
Downey, who has an 11-year-old son, Indio, with ex-wife Deborah Falconer, however, has turned his life around, and has been sober since meeting Levine.

Susan Levin, a straight arrow while Robert Downey Jr. was a brilliant but troubled star. Asked whether she and Robert plan to have children of their own, Susan says, “I think so, but we don’t have specific plans.” Mainly, at the moment, she seems focused on appreciating how far they’ve come. “For whatever reason, when we came together, there was a sense of hope and excitement and possibility.” She pauses, looks around her, smiles, and says, “If there was no Hollywood, no next movie, no deal at Warner Brothers, no place in Malibu or Venice, I would still be really happy.”
Hope the couple will live happy for good!
