Last time we got to know Princess Victoria’s wedding which is thought to be one of the most luxurious and grand in the world. Here I will continue to introduce her wedding dress and compare it with wedding dress of Princess Diana.
On the day of wedding of Princess Victoria, she arrived at the Stockholm Cathedral in a vintage black sedan. And she appeared to be elegant and regal in a cream colored duchess off-shoulder satin wedding gown. Designed by the Swedish designer Par Engsheden, this dress features a V-shaped back and a round neckline with a five-meter train which attached at the waist of her dress.
The train trails out from behind and matches the shape of the princess’s veil perfectly. It is said that her veil was originally given by Queen Sofia to her youngest son. It is the same veil that was worn by Princess Victoria’s mother, Queen Silvia, at her wedding ceremony. It is really a long history.
Princess Victoria also chose the same tiara for her wedding as her mother, Queen Silvia. This tiara is made of gold, peals and cameos and has seven cameos in different shapes and colors which were not originally made. In the central cameo there is Cupid and Psyche from Greek mythology.
Compared with the wedding gown of Princess Victoria, Princess Diana’s wedding dress has own distinctive features. It is tremendously costly. Designed by Elizabeth and David Emanuel, this ball dress is made of silk pure taffeta, decorated with lace, hand embroidery, sequins and 10,000 pearls. It has a delicate bodice and a ruffled collar with a little cute bow in the center. I quite like the puffed sleeves design which has many delicate ribbons gathered to ruffles. The 25-foot detachable train must be the shining point for the wedding dress. But it is the length of train which makes it inconvenient for bride to fold train several times to enter into the carriage. The design of the dress was aim to show her purity and youth, as well as dignity and elegance. It must be the dream dress of millions of brides in the world.
